UK Venture Funding Surges to £6.8bn – Strongest Year Since 2022 Ahead

UK startups and scaleups raised £6.8bn ($9bn) in venture funding in Q3 2025 – the second-highest Q3 on record and the strongest since 2021, according to HSBC Innovation Banking UK and Dealroom.

With £13bn invested year-to-date, matching 2024’s total, the UK is on track to close 2025 at £17.4bn, its best year since 2022.

Big rounds from Revolut (£1.5bn) and NScale (£753m) led the surge, while fintech remained dominant, attracting £4bn this year—far ahead of healthtech’s £2.4bn. Series A activity also hit a seven-quarter high.

Investment is spreading beyond London, with 45% of 2025 deals taking place in regional hubs like Cambridge (£1.5bn), Oxford (£305m), and Cardiff-Newport (£130m).

The UK continues to lead Europe, raising more than France, Germany, and Switzerland combined, reinforcing its position as Europe’s top tech and innovation hub.
